Synken Sculpture Complex, Oslo
In 1939, the municipality of Oslo announced a competition for the design of the town hall square, the winner was the project of the composition "Sinken", presented by sculptors Emil Lie and Per Hurum.

Surprisingly, the work began after the recoupment of Norway by Nazi Germany, but was delayed for 20 years.

Two fountains on the edges of the square, decorated with bronze sculptures "Mother and child" by Per Hurum, were completed in 1941 and 1945.

The sculptures on both fountains are identical.

In 1954-1958, four or four statues of gray granite by Emil Lie appeared in the Central part of the square, depicting women in various poses.

The complex was completed in 1960 with the construction of a hexagonal fountain in the center of the square. In the center of the fountain is a granite pedestal with bronze sculptures of two women with children by Emil Lie.
