Stockholm. The new Church (Nya kyrkan)
To the right of Tegnerlunden Park is a buildingThe new Church (Nya kyrkan on the map),
built in 1927 by Erland Heurlin (Erland Heurlin) for the Protestant
sect of adherents of the theory of the Swedish scientist and mystic
Theosophist Emanuel Swedenborg. (swedenborgians). The sect is also known as the"Church of the New Jerusalem".
The
dogma of swedenborgianism combines elements of Christianity, theosophy,
pantheism, Neoplatonic philosophy and Protestant mystical teachings of
the XVII century. The
total number of swedenborgians at the end of the XX century - about 80
thousand people, most of them live in the United States, where the
headquarters of the Church is located. In Europe, adherents of this doctrine have several communities in Scandinavia - in Stockholm, Jönköping, Oslo and Copenhagen.
