Gela Places of Interest
This city is known as the center of the Sicilian oil industry and is not very popular with tourists. However, there is a large archaeological area of the ancient era with a wonderful archaeological museum. There are also several old churches and a couple of monasteries in the city. Jela is also famous for its wide sandy beaches, one of which was the site of the Allied landings on August 17, 1943.
