Esplan Lava Summer Theatre, Helsinki
A harpsichord was played in the Kapeli Cafe, which started the musical tradition on the Esplanade. In 1887, a bandstand and seats for spectators were built in front of the restaurant, where a military vocal ensemble under the direction of conductor Alexey Apostol performed for more than 20 years.
Today, musicians from the Finnish army perform at the Esplan Lava Summer Theater. Traditionally, military bands perform in Helsinki from June to August - we have already seen one of these processions in the market square.
The vocal ensemble of the end of the last century was replaced by a group with modern equipment. Free events are usually held here on Saturday afternoons in the summer. Unfortunately, my time didn't allow me to wait for the concert to start.
