CASA/Northrop SF-5A monument, Badajoz
The F5 jet fighters were produced by the Spanish company CASA from 1970 to 1972. 70 aircraft were built in three versions: 18 SF-5A fighters (Spanish index C.9), 18 SRF-5A reconnaissance aircraft (SR.9) and 34 SF-5B training aircraft (SE.9).
Some aircraft were upgraded and remain in service until 2024.
The decommissioned airplanes can be seen on pedestals in various places of Spain. Fighter SF-5A number A9-42 was in service until January 2016 in Talavera la Real Air Base (Base AĆ©rea de Talavera la Real), near Badajoz.
