The most famous British brand, rolls-Royce, was born as a result of the partnership of engineer Henry Royce and Aviator Charles Rolls in 1904. The new company started producing light vehicles, which, however, performed well in the Tourist Trophy and Monte Carlo - London rally. In 1906, at the Paris auto show, the company introduced the rolls-Royce 40/50 chassis, which became the basis for a huge number of luxury cars. The company was not engaged in manufacturing bodies, they were made by body shops according to customer requirements, so not one Rolls Royce produced before the Second world war did not repeat the others.

The machines were given the common name Siver Ghost (Silver spirit) due to the abundance of silver-plated body parts and the incredibly silent engine. As they said then - the loudest sound in the rolls-Royce cabin is the ticking of the clock. The six-cylinder seven-liter engine had such characteristics due to the careful manufacturing of parts and perfect balancing of moving parts. Thus, for the first time, a pressure lubrication system was applied. A powerful frame with semi-elliptical leaf springs provided an amazing smooth ride.

In 1914, the company produced the first aircraft engine, and by the end of world war I, every second aircraft of the Entente countries had rolls-Royce engines. By 1920, the production of Aero engines became a priority for the company, and the 1935 Merlin, the last creation of the talented mechanic Henry Royce, served as the basis for British fighters of the Second world war.
