St. Petersburg-Helsinki Ferry. Evening and Morning in the Baltic Sea

On the ferry there is a place to spend the evening - there are cafes and bars for tourists, there is a small gambling corner. In the stern is the big club "Columbus", where I went. The bar had a large selection of drinks at reasonable prices, but, according to my observations, the audience preferred spiritual food - contemplation from the panoramic windows of the sea expanses or watching the performance of artists.

Columbus offers passengers an entertainment program that starts at 21 hours and lasts until late at night. Today, the audience was pleased with a string duet, then there was a performance by artists of the St. Petersburg Music Hall, but it was forbidden to shoot it.

After the music hall, there was something else, but my strength to fight sleep was no longer there - according to Ural clocks, it was four o'clock in the morning, I spent almost twenty-four hours on my feet. And tomorrow I had to get up early to meet the dawn in the Baltic.

The next morning I hurried up to the upper deck to watch the Baltic sunrise. By morning, the St. Petersburg clouds remained on the horizon. There was no wind from yesterday either, but the sea surface didn't calm down.

But on deck, the morning chill still penetrates through, so it is much more pleasant to contemplate the expanse of the sea from the glass-enclosed gallery, where chairs are installed facing the water.

After breakfast (9 euros, buffet, very good choice), I went back on deck. The sky was clear to the horizon, the sun was already hot, and there was no memory of the morning chill.

Small rocky islands - skerries-began to appear on the endless water surface of the Gulf of Finland, a sure sign that we were heading towards the shore.

The Tallink Superctar ferry is coming towards us at very high speed. It serves the Helsinki-Tallinn high-speed line (Tallink Shuttle), with a journey time of just over two hours.
