Rawal de Santa Anna, Reus
The Carrer de Monterols ends at Plaça del Prim, where we turn into the narrow lane of Rawal de Santa Anna. Here, at number 22, is the eclectic style building of the Central Bank (Banc Central).
The facade is crowned with a clock, which is quite problematic to notice - the street is very narrow. This is probably why the clock shows the exact time only twice a day.
To the right of the bank building is a residential building decorated with plant bas-reliefs.
Lovely female heads are hidden in the curves of the foliage.
The building where Stephen Mark's store was located (Casa Marco) was built in 1926 by the architect Pere Domènech i Roura, the son of the famous Luis Domenech and Montaner. (Lluís Domènech i Montaner). The building's style can be described as Noucentisme with Art Deco elements. The author used one of his father's favorite techniques - the corner tower, while he boldly experiments with geometric shapes - the second floor of the tower is rectangular in plan, the upper floors have a cylindrical shape.
The next mansion, Casa Serra, is built in the Art Nouveau style, designed by Joan Rubió i Bellver. The building is faced with natural stone and includes some Gothic elements - a stepped cornice of the roof and arches of windows. The house was built in 1924 for the pharmacist Antoni Serra, and traditionally combined the functions of commercial and residential premises. On the ground floor there was a laboratory and pharmacy, the upper floors were occupied by the Serra family. After the pharmacist's death in 1929, the house was inherited by his sister, which is why the house is sometimes called Casa Cuardia (Casa Cuadrada) after her family's famili. In 1938, the building was requisitioned as a police station, and the residents were not evicted, believing that this would protect the institution from terrorist attacks during the turbulent times of anarchy. Currently it is a residential building with commercial premises on the ground floor.
Looking into the perspective of Carrer Vilar, you can see the bell tower of St. Peter's Church (Iglesia Prioral de San Pedro).
