Museo Arqueológico Provincial Badajoz

The Historical Museum of Badajoz was established in 1867 and was originally housed in the Palace of the Provincial Council. In 1989, the museum occupied the renovated Palacio de los Condes de la Roca y Duques de Feria (Palacio de los Condes de la Roca y Duques de Feria), built in the 16th century and located in the northern part of the old town, on the territory of the fortress (Alcazaba de Badajoz). The upper floor contains archaeological finds from the Paleolithic, Bronze and Iron Ages. The lower floor exhibits artifacts from the Roman era, the beginning of Christianity, the Visigothic culture of the 6th and 7th centuries, the Islamic era from the 9th to the 13th centuries and, finally, the Christian Middle Ages from the 13th to the 16th centuries.
