Tortosa. Carrer dels Capellans - the Arab quarter
From the square, where the altar of the Cathedral opens, the steps of the narrow street Carrer dels Capellans lead up (on the map).
Here you can see pre-war buildings and several earlier buildings in the Arab style.
Unfortunately, only the foundations of many houses remain - the area is located under the walls of the fortress, which was the object of constant bombardment during the battle of the Ebro.
It seems that some of the buildings were abandoned not too long ago - the masonry used to block the doorways is quite fresh, I think the city authorities are planning to do something with these buildings. There are no attractions here, but the street itself looks very colorful.
The street leads to the castle De La Souda, and in the middle part of it you can go down to The Royal colleges complex.
