Casa Juanita Guest House, Peñíscola

I booked a room in a small hotel called Pensió Casa Juanita, located right above the Sanat Maria Gate. The blank wall in front of the entrance turned out to be the wall of St. Mary's Church, but I found out much later. The hotel's doors were closed, and there was a sign on them with the phone number where you should call to check in. I rang the bell, and five minutes later the landlady came and I went up to my room. As it turned out, I was the only guest.

The room was small but cozy, with a balcony, the only negative being that it was cool. The bathroom had a heater above the door, but it wasn't enough to heat the entire room. The blanket was very thin, so I had to sleep in thermal underwear.

Dropping my backpack, I went for a walk around the amazing bright, white city. Usually the narrow streets of ancient cities look gloomy even on a sunny day, but the same can not be said about Peñíscola.
