Wärdshus Rest Stop, Huskvarna
We left the Stockholm ferry terminal at about 7 a.m. and were already driving along Vettern lake in 4 hours. It has been almost 6 hours since breakfast on the ferry, and we stopped for lunch in the Eastern suburb of Jönköping, Huskvarna, located on the shore of the lake.
Rasta Brunstorps Wärdshus has a restaurant, a fast food cafe, and a small shop.
In the cozy lobby of the restaurant, you can admire the stuffed inhabitants of the local forests - moose. I can't say anything about the quality of food and prices in the cafe, since I didn't stand in the queue formed by tourists of our bus.
I can only say that the dining room has a wonderful view of the lake and the swimming pool.
I bought a couple of sandwiches at the buffet and went to stretch my legs. To the left of the restaurant there was a tiny Park with several somewhat sculptural compositions,
Including one in the form of a fountain.
There is also a block of dark stone with inclusions from lighter rocks, smoothed out by the glacier. It reminded me of an ice cream cone filled with nuts.
When I got up to the road, I found a nice basket of apples by the side of the road.
On the other side of the highway is another public catering establishment, Trädgårdscafé, and it is accessed by a tunnel built under the road.
There is an improvised bell tower with a weather vane in the form of a sailboat at the car parking.
Then I decided to go down to the lake's edge.
But my path was blocked by a closed gate with large bronze letters and a fence.
Behind the fence is a neat Park, the paths of which descend to the water.
And a few houses, surrounded by greenery already touched with autumn gold.
Along the fence, the road sloped down, but it ended in a dead end, again abutting on private property.
The coastal area is built up with neat cottages, similar to summer cottages, they completely block access to water.
It remains to return and admire the cliffs that rise from the other side of the highway. The shore of lake Vetten is a flat, wide terrace, then the area of kuruto rises by 30-50 meters.
Instead of the planned 40 minutes, the stop lasted almost an hour and a half, as the cafe was not ready to feed fifty hungry Russian tourists at once. Then we continued our journey towards Helsingborg.
