Taormina. Fountain on the Duomo square (Four springs)

The Piazza Duomo has a Baroque fountain built in 1635. It represents a round stepped pedestal on which there is a sculptural composition with two bowls held on their shoulders by mythical characters. The names of the citizens who donated funds for the construction of the fountain are engraved on the outer edge of the upper bowl. The fountain is crowned by the symbol of the city of Taormina - a female centaur with a crown on his head, who holds a globe in his left hand and a scepter in his right. Four small columns with water bowls are adjacent to the base of the fountain, on which sea horses with horse heads recline. Therefore, the fountain is often called "Four Horses" or "four springs", although the official name is Fontana del Duomo. Now the water is flowing from only one head.
