Sculptures of the Volta do Duco street, Sintra Arte Pública Exhibition
The main entrance Park Svoboda opens to the street - alley Volta do Duco. Opposite the entrance there is a monumentto Dr. Gheorghio Rafael da Silva de Almeida ( on the map), a doctor who worked in Sintra and did a lot for the development of public medicine. The doctor was popularly known as the"Father of all the poor."
Just to the right is the sculpture "Ana Paula" Pedro Teixeira( Pedro Anjos Teixeira), a famous Portuguese sculptor of French origin. The artist spent his childhood and the end of his life in Sintra, where he died in 1997, leaving his descendants more than 900 works.
Walking along the alley towards the Republic square, you can see the creations of modern sculptors. These are the permanent exhibits of Sintra Arte Pública. The theme of the exhibition changes once a year, and the exhibits change accordingly.
Next to the samples of avant-garde art is a drinking fountain with a gazebo in the mudehar style - Oriental patterns framed by colored ceramics.
