Jardín Chino, Murcia
The left bank of the Segura River in the central part of the city is occupied by a green area stretching from the bridge of Miguel Caballero (Puente Miguel Caballero) to the bridge of Ospital (Puente del Hospital General).
Most of the park is located along the Avenida Teniente Flomesta, so officially it bears the same name.
In the center of the garden is an aviary where exotic birds live, so the locals call this place the Chinese Garden. The same name can be seen on most maps.
In the middle part of the park, the river banks are connected by the Puente Nuevo pedestrian Bridge (New Bridge). Because of its construction, it is often also called Puente de Hierro (Iron Bridge). It was built in 1903, it was the second bridge in the city.
There are several soultpours in the park, the most significant of which is named Monumento a La Fama (Monument of Glory).
The monument was erected in 1972 and is dedicated to famous people of Murcia. The author of the bronze sculpture is Juan González Moreno. I must say that in Murcia there is another monument with the same name, installed in 1889 on the square of Santa Isabel.
