Turkish Ay Class Submarine in the Bosphorus

As I was crossing the Bosphorus, on the approach to Uskudar, a Turkish Navy submarine passed very close to our ferry, heading towards the Black sea.

There is no number on Board, but the silhouette suggests that this is a German-built type 209/1200 submarine, or AY class in Turkish terminology.

There are three such submarines in the Turkish Navy, and some external signs suggest that this is the TCG Atılay (S-347).
