Piazza Santa Restituta, Lacco Ameno
From the observation platform on Monte Vico, a rather steep and rather neglected stone staircase leads down, which I followed with some trepidation. However, it was not so bad, and in a few minutes I was almost in the center of the town, very close to the square of Santa Restituta. The staircase ended at the house of the house with a decorated ceramic tile portal, the style of which for some reason reminded me of the Hohloma.
Opposite is the gate of the five-star SPA hotel Della Regina Isabella, decorated with battered tuff satyrs with angelic faces.
This hotel is considered one of the most prestigious on the island, it is a whole complex on the beach.
The Thermae Regina Isabella is part of the hotel (Terme Della Regina Isabella on the map) and is connected to it by a covered gallery. Here you can take mud and thermal baths, massage, inhalation and other health and beauty treatments.
The main square of the town is named after its patron Saint - the Holy Restituta (Piazza Santa Restituta on the map), whose relics arrived in Ischia in the fifth century. The current appearance of the square is due to the famous film producer Angelo Rizzoli (he worked with Frederico Fellini on the films "La Dolce Vita" and "Eight and a half", "Serafino" with Adriano Celentano and many others), who settled in Villa Arbusto in 1952. The movie Mogul has invested a lot of money in the improvement and development of the infrastructure of the town.
The tower is crowned by an openwork belfry-a work of blacksmithing art.
An early Christian Basilica appeared here in the 5th century, now in its place is a Museum built over the archaeological zone. As a result of the excavations, an ancient altar and crypt were discovered, where the relics of the Holy Restituta were originally stored, and it can be seen in the Museum's dungeons.
Memorial plaque on the facade of the city hall, dedicated to local residents who died in two world wars.
