Helsingør–Helsingborg Ferry. Sunset on the Øresund Stait

A day full of impressions on the land of Denmark ended at the ferry crossing over the Øresund Strait. Both batteries of my camera I safely "killed" for a day of walking the streets and exhibitions of Copenhagen and castles in its vicinity, so it was taken on the phone, I apologize for the quality.

The terminal of the ferry line connecting Denmark with Sweden is located in the town of Helsinger, 45 kilometers from Copenhagen.

Kronborg castle, where we just visited, is located a couple of hundred meters from the terminal.

The castle was built to control the Strait and collect trade duties from passing ships, but is best known for the play hamlet by William Shakespeare. I told you in detail about the history of the castle and its visit in the previous article.

The ferry service between Helsinger (Elsinore) in Denmark and Helsingborg in Sweden served as the main transport artery connecting Western Europe with the Scandinavian Peninsula until the opening of the Øresund bridge.

There are three ferries on the line, which depart at intervals of 20 minutes during the day, and 40 minutes at night. The ticket price is 6 euros, for children and the elderly 4 euros. For a car, you need to pay 51 euros, which is three euros cheaper than over the Øresund bridge.

Let's take another look at "Hamlet's castle" against the sunset sky. Today is a surprisingly warm evening, there is almost no wind, in a stormy strait this is a rarity.

The Øresund strait separates the Baltic from the North sea. The castle is built in the narrowest place, its width is 4.5 kilometers.

The ferry ride took no more than 20 minutes. Then our journey continues on Swedish land.
