Diocesan Museum (Museu Diocesà de Tarragona)

And to conclude our tour of the Cathedral, walk through the main nave, chapels and galleries of the inner courtyard and visit the Museum of the diocese of Tarragona (Museu Diocesà de Tarragona). The Museum was established in 1914 on the basis of the collection of Archbishop tomás Costa i Formaguera and was supplemented by donations from the parishes of the diocese and parishioners.

Here you can see masterpieces of Church painting,

and sculptures, including wooden sculptures with polychrome coating of the 16th century.

The Museum's collection has about six thousand exhibits, but only three hundred and fifty are publicly available.
