Valencia. Plaza de La Reina- the Tower of St. Catalina
It was late afternoon, and I began to walk slowly toward my boarding house. Plaza de La Reina in soft evening colors.

Tower of the Cathedral.

Bell tower of the Church of Santa Catalina (Iglesia de Santa Catalina on the map). The Church was built on the site of a former mosque in 1245. In 1705, according to the project of the architect Juan Batista Vignes, a five-tiered hexagonal bell tower was added to the temple, made in the Baroque style..

This is one of the most original architectural works of the Spanish Baroque.

In the corners the upper tier of the tower contains columns with a spiral trunk. The tower is crowned by a chapel decorated with a tiled dome.

And the walls are decorated with wonderful bas-reliefs.

I still can't get used to the idea that it's the middle of winter - it's freezing in my 30s at home.

Next to the bell tower there is a small square-Plaza redona (on the map), which was built in 1840 and is notable for its absolutely round shape. This is the work of architect Salvador Escrig Melcher. The fountain appeared on the square 10 years later. The first floors of the ring buildings are occupied by shops selling ceramics, lace and other original handmade items. On Sundays, there is a flea market of various Souvenirs made by local craftsmen.
