Valencia. Shelter of the Marquis de Campo (Asilo Marques de Campo)
The building of the orphanage (on the map) was opened in 1882 by the famous Valencian industrialist, politician and philanthropist Jose Campo Perez, also known as the Marquis De Campa.
At the end of the 18th century, this part of the city was inhabited by factory workers, the orphanage was intended for children left without parental care. It was one of the first social institutions in Valencia.
The author of the project, architect Jose Camagna, designed the facades in the neo-Gothic style. The building now houses the Economics Department of the Catholic University of Valencia (UCV).
