Villa Fiorentino, Sorrento

Hereditary artisans and spouses Lucia Cuomo and Antonino Enrico Fiorentino built a family business on the manufacture of linen handkerchiefs with hand embroidery. By the early 30s, they had earned decent money and purchased a plot of land at the end of Coroso Italia to build a villa. In 1936, the construction of a house in the South American neocolonial style of the 19th century was completed, in the large hall of the lower floor, the couple arranged a shop-salon of their products for noble and wealthy clients, in the upper floor and mezzanine they lived themselves. The rooms are furnished with exquisite antique furniture. The villa is surrounded by a cozy garden with a wide variety of roses and camellias. In the far part of the garden there is an old farmhouse built into the city wall. Having lived to an advanced age, the couple retired and donated all their property to their hometown, wishing that the villa would be used as a public cultural center. Now art and craft exhibitions, musical events are held here.
