Via Pescheria, Giardini-Naxos

On the embankment, opposite the L'Arco statue, there is the Portofranco Cafe (now it may have a different name), and if you turn next to it into Vicolo Goriziza lane, you will see amazing mosaics of broken ceramics and wall paintings on the walls under the arch. This example of street art, known as Via Pescheria (Fish Market), appeared here as a result of the Emergence Festival of street art, which took place in Giardini Naxos at the end of May 2015. Artists Amedeo Forlin, Antonio Forlin and Francesco Micalizio named their creation Come profondo il mare (How deep the sea is) and expressed the following ideas in it: A mosaic with shoals of fish, octopuses and sea waves symbolizes the inextricable connection of the inhabitants of the town with the sea, which for centuries they The breadwinner. Fragments of ceramic dishes, tiles and colored glass (trenkadis technique) touch on the theme of ecology and show that art objects can be created from unnecessary things. The traditions of Sicilian ceramics, painted in the Majolica style, with a predominance of blue, yellow and green tones, have not been forgotten..
