Aveiro. Sculptures InVirto By Luís Queimadela
In 2009, at the initiative of the local gallery of modern art VerArte, a series of original sculptures appeared on the streets of the city, the first of which can be seen on the forecourt.
The works of sculptor Luís Queimadela have the common name InVitro, which literally means "in glass" in Latin, now this term in the scientific community has the meaning "in vitro" and means a product created in artificial conditions, outside the natural environment.
All statues have a square face and feet.
The rest of the body is stylized in a wide variety of forms.
In 2015, for the city's five-hundredth anniversary, the city council purchased the entire collection.
A total of 14 idols are scattered around the pedestrian zones of the city.
