Glogowska Gate Tower
The medieval Legnica was surrounded by an external wall, its individual fragments existed until the beginning of the 20th century. Only the Głogow Gate tower (Wieża Bramy Głogowskiej), which protected the city from the road leading from Głogow, has been preserved. The tower was built in the first half of the 15th century on the site of an earlier 13th-century defensive structure. The structure had three tiers, the upper tiers had loopholes.
In the nineteenth century, a through passage was made in the lower tier, decorated with a pointed arch. Since then, the tower has also been called the Glogovsky Gate.
At the same time, another tier was added, which is clearly visible from the lighter bricks. A battlemented parapet surrounded the upper landing. At the beginning of the 20th century, the battlements of the parapet were added and the tower was covered with a hipped roof.
A medieval sundial has been preserved on the south wall of the tower.
