The ship was built at the Lürssen Werft shipyard in Bremen, launched on November 14, 2015 and delivered to the customer in early 2016. Although the length of the Dilbar did not set a record among mega-yachts, but at the time of completion, it surpassed competitors in terms of the volume of internal spaces (Gross tonnage), which indicates a very efficient work of the designers of Lürssen Yacht.
The cost of the order was not disclosed, but according to experts, Russian billionaire Alisher Usmanov paid from $ 800 to $ 1 billion for this "toy". The legal identity of the yacht was also not disclosed, but according to the German tax police, the formal owner of the vessel is Usmanov's sister Gulbakhor Ismailova. The ship is registered in the Cayman Islands.

Since October 2021, Dilbar has been in the dry dock of the Blohm+Voss shipyard in Hamburg, where it is undergoing major repairs. On March 2, March 2022, the yacht was seized by the German authorities as part of sanctions against Russian oligarchs for Russia's military invasion of Ukraine. The further fate of the yacht is unknown, but there is a possibility that by the decision of international judicial authorities it will be sold at auction, and the proceeds will be transferred to Ukraine as reparations.
