A night walk from the Boulevard Fixer to Cibeles square

After arriving from the airport, I checked Into the Lemus guest house, which I already knew twice on Ortales street, stocked up on unassuming provisions in a nearby Chinese grocery-alimentaciena, quickly quenched my hunger and went to a night photo shoot on the main street of Madrid located 50 meters from the flophouse. After almost a sleepless night and two flights, the eyes were closed, but the desire to experience at night the recently purchased Canon EF 28-135 3.5-5.6 IS USM lens overcame the physiological needs of the body. Although I took a tripod with me, I took the first shots with my hands to assess the effectiveness of the stabilizer.

Madrid.

The result was not very encouraging, maybe from being used to it. But the picture is much worse than with EF 24/2. 8 IS USM, which I used for night shooting.

Madrid.

The Caballero de Gracia oratorio. This is not a facade, but a semicircular altar part, an apse, over which an arch is erected. The main entrance to the Church is located on the other side, on Caballero de Gracia street. Also removed from the hands.

When I reached the Gran via and Alcala arrow, which forms the metropolis building, I put my tripod in working position and took the next shots with the +/-2ev bracket.

Night Madrid. The Metropolis Building (Edifico Mertopolis)

The dome of the metropolis is crowned with a sculpture of a Phoenix.

Metropolis and the house of Grassi with the constant advertising of the Rolex. Yes, 28mm for the city is clearly not enough after the usual 17-40.

Phoenix, front view. 135mm is quite enough for such shooting.

The building of the society of fine arts. On the roof, at an altitude of 56 meters, there is a cafe with a viewing platform, where you can enjoy a wonderful view of the city.

Moving away, I took another picture of the front of the metropolis, at normal focal length. The geometry is better here.

Cibeles square with the Palace of the same name.

Night Madrid. Cibeles Square

Known more asPalace of Communications - the building was built as the main post office of Spain.

The Communication Palace does not get tired of striking with its light design.

Which changes every year.

If last year the building was illuminated with fashionable blue LEDs, now the illumination is dynamic. The colors change so quickly that bracketing gives only a single crimson light after the cut, so I took a few single shots.

Even if you have already been to Madrid and seen the Cibeles night Palace, when you next visit the capital of Spain, choose the time to look again in the late evening at this square-you will find a new and unforgettable sight.

Returning on the other side of the Gran via, I somehow squeezed the Telefonica skyscraper into the frame.

My short walk ended on the Boulevard Montera, leading from the Gran via to the Puerta del Sol, which is always busy until well into the night.
