Teatro Politeama
The Politeama theater (Politeama means "multigenre" in Latin) is located at the end of Santo Antau street (on the map), a block from Restauradores square.
Construction of the theater began on may 12, 1912, and December 6 of the following year the first production of the operetta "Waltz of love"took place in the hall this year.
The building was designed by the architect Miguel Ventura Terra (Miguel Ventura Terra) and is a striking representative of the art Nouveau era.
Here you can find all the signs of style-a lot of curved lines, vegetable stucco, shaped metal grilles.
The theater is mainly known as a venue for the production of musicals, here there were both Portuguese "Maldita Cocaina", "Amalia", and the world-famous "My fair Lady", "Music in the heart", "Jesus Christ superstar".
