Avenida Dom Nuno Álvares Pereira, Almada

On the way back from Cristo Rey to the port, I walked along the main avenue of Almada. This is a street with modern buildings, along which the tracks of the metro (Metro Transportes do Sul) pass. On the circular square of Praça Movimento das Forças there is a monument to the fallen of the fascist dictatorship (Monumento aos Perseguidos), erected in 1979. The author of the sculpture is the famous artist Pedro Anjos Teixeira. There are many cafes on the street, and the tracks of the modern skytrain (Metro Transportes do Sul) run along the street. Since the street is not included in the list of tourist attractions, there are many cafes with pleasant prices. Closer to the port there is an antique shop with lots of knickknacks and interior items.
