St. Nicholas Greek Church

Between towers 67 and 68 on Sulukule Street at number 39 is a blank stone wall with a single arched portal, above it stands a bell tower with a three-dimensional cross. This is the Greek Orthodox Church of St. Nicholas (Aya Nikola Kilisesi). The date of construction is unknown, the object belongs to the Ottoman era. Whether it works or not is also unknown, there is no information about it, but from the large number of satellite dishes on the wall, it can be assumed that there is some kind of life there.

At the church portal, my attention was drawn to a classic Fiat 124 car in perfect condition. In Turkey, it was produced under license under the name Murat 124, but it is already difficult to meet them on the streets. Apparently, the Italian original is better and more tenacious.

There is a car wash next to the church.

Opposite is an improvised tea shop, without which not one Turkish business can do without.

Sulukule Caddesi Street runs along the Topkapi walls.

As the street descends, the Mihrimah Sultan Camii Mosque stands out from its perspective, as do the skyscrapers of the Beyoglu business district.
