The terrace in front of the Mecidiye Pavilion is the best observation deck in Istanbul. From it, you can look over a large part of the huge metropolis, from the mouth of the Golden Horn Bay to the Sea of Marmara with the Princes' Islands (Prens Adalar).

Directly opposite the facade of the pavilion is the historic Selimiye Barracks complex and the port in the Uskyudar district. High-rise buildings on the horizon create a modern silhouette of the Asian part of the city. These are the business cluster in Kozyatağı district and the skyscrapers of Ataşehir district.

The Martyrs' Bridge on July 15 (15 Temmuz Şehitler Köprüsü), which was named after the coup attempt on July 15, 2016. Previously, it was called the Bosphorus Bridge (Boğaziçi Köprüsü), and now Istanbul residents prefer this name. This is the first bridge across the Bosphorus, it was opened on October 30, 1973, to mark the 50th anniversary of the establishment of the Turkish Republic. The length of the suspension part is 1074 meters, the height from the water surface is 64 meters. The sultan's newer residence, Dolmabahçe Sarayı Palace, is clearly visible on the left bank, and the Ortakoy Mosque is visible at the left foot of the bridge.
