Cappella di San Vincenzo Ferreri, Serrara
Above the Church of the Madonna del Carmine in the village of Serrara, there is another small temple (on the map).
Peering through the door to the left of the main entrance, I found a stairway that led to the belfry. I did not go to the top, because I doubted the legality of my actions.
Descending, I ran into an attendant who had previously been sweeping an already perfectly clean area in front of the temple. He did not show any displeasure, but invited them inside and said a few words about the history of the temple.
The parish of Serrara was expanded in 1733 with the chapel of St. Vincenzo Ferreri, the patron Saint of farmers.
Так как этот святой более актуален для местных фермеров, храм стал иметь большую значимость для жителей, чем церковь Мадонны дель Кармине, центр прихода.
Every year, on April 5, the anniversary of the Saint, farmers hold a solemn mass in the temple, asking for a plentiful harvest.
