Corso Angelo Rizzoli, Lacco Ameno
From the Piazza San Restituta begins the Corso Angelo Rizzoli, which stretches along the coast through the entire town. The promenade is named after the publisher and film producer who worked with Federico Fellini, including on the cult films "Eight and a Half" and "La Dolce Vita". Rizzoli settled in Lacco Ameno in 1952 and did much to establish the city as a prestigious resort. In the Villa Arbusto, where Rizzoli lived until his death, there is now an archaeological museum, which I have already described.
The street is built up with two-story houses. In one of the front gardens, a small statue of a man with geese caught my attention. Pankrats Labenwolf's original sculpture called "The Goose Shepherd" (Gansemännchenbrunnen) has been decorating the old fountain of Nuremberg since 1550 and has many copies in Germany, but this is the first time I have seen this sculpture outside of Germany.
The Lakco Ameno embankment is not wide at all and therefore gives the impression of being homely.
The Lido Itaca sandy beach (Spiaggia Lido Itaca) stretches along the waterfront.
In the middle part of the beach there is a bronze foot on a stone ball. From the tablet on the stone, I learned that this culture is called Cursus Vitae, which can be translated from Latin as "Life course", and it was sculpted by Nino Banilo.
At the end of the plaza is the Hotel La Sirenella, which stands right on the beach, jutting out into the sea. The exclusive location dictates the appropriate prices: in high season, full board costs more than one hundred euros per night.
On the other side of the street is the Church of Santa Maria delle Grazie.
After walking a block, I found myself at the entrance to the pier. There is another original sculpture depicting a mermaid covering a famous place with her hands. The sea maiden had just come out of the water, and when she suddenly saw people, she was ashamed of her nakedness.
Next to the pier, the famous stone mushroom - Il Fungo-sticks out of the water.
If you take a walk along the pier, you can see the entire Lakko Aameno embankment.
The central part of the town is located at the foot of the highest mountain on the island of Ischia, the extinct volcano Monte Epomeo.
