Turku, Cathedral and Port
Then we go to Turku, where we drive along the picturesque E18 highway.
Turku is the oldest city in Finland and has long been the capital of the Finnish province of Sweden.
The most important attraction of the city, the cathedral, the main Lutheran church in Finland.
The first wooden church appeared here in 1258.
In the first half of the 14th century, the wooden church was replaced by a stone one.
Subsequently, the cathedral was expanded several times, suffered from fires three times and was restored.
Now the interiors of the cathedral look like the end of the nineteenth century.
We finish our first short tour of Finland in the port of Turku, at the Silja terminal, where we will take the ferry to Stockholm. I will visit Finland more than once, as you can read in the following articles.
