Church of Santísima Trinidad, Castellon de La Plana

The church is located two blocks west of the Plaza of the Sun (Plaza Puerta del Sol), on the square of the School of Piety (Plaza Escuelas Pías). The School of Piety was opened in 1900, it belongs to a religious order founded in the 17th century by San Jose de Calasans (1557-1648), who devoted his activities to evangelization and education of children from poor families. The church is part of this project, its construction began in 1884 and was completed in 1915. The author of the project is architect Manuel Montesinos Arlandis. During the Civil War, the church was looted and subsequently rebuilt according to the project of Francisco Traver Tomás. The facade is made in neo-Romanesque style, without frills, and does not make a big impression, but it is worth going inside and you will be amazed by the beauty of the interiors. The building has a large and wide central nave and smaller side aisles, a transept with a dome, a high choir and an atrium. The walls are richly decorated in neo-Byzantine style. The church is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m..
