Around the Basilica of Déu del Lledó, Castellon de la Plana

The church is surrounded by a small park, where there are several monuments.

March 18, 1983 when the Head of the Catholic Church, Pope John Paul II, visited the sanctuary. A month and a half later, a memorial sign with the coat of arms depicting the papal symbols - the keys of St. Peter and the Tiara-was unveiled here. I must say that this is a very loose interpretation of the Vatican coat of arms.

To the left of the main entrance of the basilica is a spring built by the trade union association "Brotherhood of Farmers and Ranchers" (Hermandades Sindicales de Labradores y Ganaderos). After inquiring about its history, I was surprised to learn that this organization for the protection of the rights of the peasantry was founded under the auspices of the Franco government, whose regime leftist politicians call "anti-people".

A stone wall with ceramic panels depicting local shrines separates the road from the square in front of the church.

Across the street from the sanctuary is a very beautiful small Moorish-style mansion (Mudejar). The plot and the house look abandoned, and I couldn't find any information about it.
