Fonts Bessones

The northern part of Plaza Catalunya is decorated with two fountains, whose name translates as "Gemini". Previously, there was a small fountain in this place, with the figure of a boy riding a dolphin. During the reconstruction of the square in 1959, the intersection of Gran Via and Rambla de Catalunya was moved, and two circular pools appeared here, designed by architect Fernando Espiau Seoane. These fountains have become a single ensemble with statues installed here in 1929 in front of one of the pavilions of the International Exhibition. In 2015, the fountains received computer control of water jets and a light and music system. Every evening this show gathers a lot of viewers.
