Pension Trinidad, Córdoba
In Cordoba, I had a room booked at a small family-run Trinidad guesthouse located on Cardinal Gonzalez Street, 50 meters from Mesquita. The door opens directly onto the street, I rang the bell, and in a minute I was inside.
The mini-hotel occupies the front half of an old Andalucian house, and on the ground floor there is a peculiar reception - a small room where the owner scanned my passport, then led me up the stairs, the walls of which were decorated with various rarities in the Andalucian spirit.
The small cozy room was cool after a two-kilometer walk from the station in thirty-degree heat. The window looked out on the street, completely deserted and quiet at this hour. However, at night, only memories remained of this grace: today was the Feast of May Crosses and merry crowds walked along the street almost all night, and in the morning, when I finally fell asleep, I was woken up by the noise of harvesting equipment.
The mini-hotel occupies the front half of an old house that is at least three centuries old. On the second floor there are four guest rooms and a shared bathroom. It should be noted that the window to the street has only one small room, exactly the one in which I settled. The other rooms are bigger, and I don't think the noise from the street bothers me.
The second-floor hallway opens onto a small, cozy patio with a refrigerator, microwave and a set of dishes. I used the refrigerator, the rest was not needed.
The patio is an internal courtyard-well, covered with a glass dome, so there is natural lighting, but direct sunlight does not reach the bottom of the room, so it remains cool. A door marked "Privado" leads to the master part of the house.
In addition to Andalucian ceramics, there are several reproductions on the walls depicting historical moments from the period of the Pyrenean Wars.
Looking ahead, when I visited Cordoba again a few years later, I didn't think twice about choosing a place to spend the night and booked this cozy house again. This time there was nothing stopping me from sleeping at night.
